Bulletin Boards coming your way

Have you got an important notice that you wish to circulate in your community? Help is at hand because eight bulletin boards will soon be built in your community.
The Cato Manor Emerging Contractors Association has just won the tender to construct the bulletin boards, which will resemble bus stop shelters.

The shelters will be built in Cato Crest, the Bellair Shopping Centre, Bellair Market, Nsimbini, Ikhaya Homes cluster boxes, at the boundary between KwaMasixhawulane and the Fast Track and in Chesterville Extension 1 and 2.

Anyone can put their posters and notices on the bulletin boards once they are completed. They can be used to notify the communities about upcoming functions, sports and cultural events, community meetings, job opportunities etc. They will also be used by the CMDA to publicise training programmes and upcoming development projects.

Former Umkhonto Wesizwe combatants from Chesterville have established a co-operative trading under the name of Sizakancane.

The ex-combatants, most of whom returned from exile in the late 1990s, have decided to pool resources in order to take advantage of the numerous business opportunities arising in Cato Manor.

Since the establishment of Sizakancane, the combatants have been gearing themselves for the tough battles of business by attending business related training courses. Some of them have enlisted with the Cato Manor Technical College for this purpose while others are preparing to attend courses offered by Sukuma. The courses range from beer brewing to peanut butter making.

Negotiations with CMDA to secure land in Cato Manor for their business ventures are underway. Sizakancane has 50 members. Two of their members were part of a large South African contingent which helped to monitor the Zimbabwe elections.
